I RUN FOR SOSD – 50 FOR 50
Why I want to run for SOSD?
I have been volunteering at dog shelters since 2012 and have been running for rescue dogs since 2015. It is because of my volunteer work that I got motivated to study dog behaviour and training. I then decided to be a dog behaviourist and trainer because I want to improve relationships between owners and dogs, in my own little way to help reduce abandonment and foster better understanding of stray dogs. I have done 3 marathons to date and have raised over $40,000. For 2017, I will be attempting my very first ultra race and the first thing that came to mind is to run exclusively for SOSD to raise not just money, but awareness for the rescue dogs in Singapore. I will be attempting to finish 50km of mountain trails on Lantau Island, Hong Kong, within the cut-off time of 13 hours. Running is not easy for me and when I feel that it is tough, I will dig deep and think about how life is much harder for the stray and abandoned dogs in Singapore. The less fortunate dogs always inspires an underdog like me to persevere and never give up till I cross the finish line. Running is a big thing in Singapore and I think it is a good way to reach out to as many people as I can who are currently not part of the dog welfare community.
