“Behind every adoption, I see a love that is undying and unconditional, from the dog, for the human,” says Hui Jin.
This week, we cast the spotlight on an SOSD Rehoming volunteer who has been an invaluable part of the team for the last two and a half years. Hui Jin dedicates her time screening potential fosterers and adopters through phone interviews and home visits, and handles enquiries relating to dog rescues, training and care. She also guides a team of rehomers and helps them whenever they face challenges in the rehoming process.
Hui Jin is also the fosterer of Ratchy. Some of you may remember him. When the team urgently needed a fosterer for him, she readily took up the challenge and took him in until he gets a forever home. Beyond that, Hui Jin even opened up her new apartment to house six six-week old puppies in one of the rooms! With this outpouring of trust and generosity, Hui Jin willingly cast aside her privacy, and welcomed into her apartment volunteers who were taking turns to care for the puppies.
Hui Jin says, “Every rescued dog is unique and beautiful, and every adoption story is even more so. The bond between the dog and the human – especially when I personally witness its development – is an indescribably beautiful event. When I see the new adopter gently kiss the dog on its head nothing is more satisfying than having witnessed this love that the human and the dog share. It really is an honour being a Rehoming volunteer and that has made me grow as a person. I learned to love better; I learned to love from the heart.”
Thank you Hui Jin for the love and dedication!
