Personality: Jolene has come an incredibly long way. When she and her sister first came to shelter, they were incredibly terrified, and would defacate in fear and snap at us when we tried to touch them. A few days later, they started showing signs of Parvovirus, which killed her sister within a day. Jolene was warded at the hospital for 3 weeks, where she received treatment and TLC from the staff. When she was discharged, we saw her slowly open up, bit by bit. She’d approach her enclosure door curiously when she heard the gates opening, but scamper to the back of her enclosure when we approached. When we introduced her to other dogs, she was delighted! Jolene quickly learnt to walk on leash, and is learning to enjoy attention and affection from people. She is still a little shy, but we believe she’ll open up even more when she finds a family and a loving home.
