An unassuming man, Jason has become one of the pillars in SOSD over the years. Neither a stranger to our country nor our shelter, we are extremely grateful for Jason’s time and commitment, and whose contributions have built a strong foundation (literally and figuratively) for our dogs’ welfare.
Remember the Big Move last year? We couldn’t have done it without Jason! With Jason’s expertise in managing construction projects back in the UK, the renovations went on very smoothly under his watch, ensuring timelines were met. Without him, we might have had to postpone our moving dates several times! He was also very hands on, and helped to purchase raw materials and install awnings to prevent rain from splashing into the kennels on rainy days.
“When I moved to Singapore just over 3 years ago, I was fortunate to have the time to support a charity, and given our longstanding love for dogs, I looked for an animal welfare organisation that inspired me. I started with SOSD’s Shelter Team for Wednesday pack walk, and over the next months, I found there were other ways in which I could help. I started to transport dogs to vet appointments, and through that I met volunteers from the rehoming team, which led to my involvement in rescue and rehoming. Over the next couple of years, my work took me all over the little red dot, meeting people from all walks of life, and all breeds of dogs. All this while I was still able to indulge in the simple pleasure of spending time with dogs on Wednesday packwalks.” One of these dogs is Jacky (in the photo), whose world lights up with rainbows and sunshine everytime he senses Jason’s presence (yes, even before Jason drives up in his car!)
The current team lead for Wednesday pack walk, Jason shares that SOSD is an organisation packed with great, inspiring people. “There have been some very emotional moments, and times when passion led to heated debate, but throughout I see the same desire to help the dogs. Many like me will spend a period of time with the charity, when life allows, but I express my particular thanks to those who form the backbone of the work SOSD does, year in year out.”
